Unaided eye observing is observing astronomical objects without optical instruments such as binoculars and telescopes. It is a perfect way to start a hobby in observational astronomy because you can start tonight if the weather permits. All you need to start is a desire to learn about astronomical objects, some astronomy reference materials and a desire to find astronomical objects in the sky. Also, unaided eye observing provides excellent observing skills that are needed when you use binoculars and telescopes. There are many astronomy resources that can help you in unaided eye observing. These resources include information about astronomical objects that you can see with your eyes and what these objects look like.

Origins: Hubble: Naked Eye Astronomy | Exploratorium Magazine
The key facts of naked-eye astronomy had, we think, been realized long before writing arose. We cannot say much of what people knew before anyone could write it down, but that does not mean that they were ignorant of their own rich experience. Seasons were noted and found to recur with the motions of the luminaries. It seems to us that all the sky's visibly transient features -- the clouds, fog, mist, rain, thunder and lightning, rainbows and sun-dogs, even meteors and comets -- were studied many times by the old ones and eventually set well apart from the truly repetitive features -- the sun and moon, the night's starry points of light, and the soft glow of the Milky Way. All this plays out by day and by night on the two-dimensional dome we call the sky.

The author's aim is to popularise the science of astronomy in a series of relaxed, easy to read, and easy to undestand articles. My thanks to NASA - without these images, these webpages would not have been possible. In this fourth page of a series of guides to the night sky, I look at some more of the most prominent objects which can be seen. And there is a lot more than might at first be apparent. Look up at the night sky and what do you see?
Naked eye , also called bare eye or unaided eye , is the practice of engaging in visual perception unaided by a magnifying or light-collecting optical instrument , such as a telescope or microscope. Vision corrected to normal acuity using corrective lenses is still considered "naked". In astronomy , the naked eye may be used to observe celestial events and objects visible without equipment, such as conjunctions , passing comets , meteor showers , and the brightest asteroids , including 4 Vesta. Sky lore and various tests demonstrate an impressive variety of phenomena visible to the unaided eye.
